March favourites

Happy April, everyone! Did you enjoy March? I sure did. And so, I wanted to share with you some things that made March extra special for me.

Exercise
I try to practice yoga daily and, recently, I changed up my routine a bit to focus on stretching my legs so that one day I might be able to do the splits. Ambitious? Considering how inflexible I am – definitely. But I always like a challenge. And so, I’ve added the pyramid pose, which stretches the hips and hamstrings and strengthens the legs, as well as the lizard pose, which stretches the hips, groin and hamstrings into my routine. These stretches are really improving my range of motion and they feel great.

Book
This year, I’ve started to read more mindful and spiritual books. Last month I started  Ancient Wisdom, Modern World: Ethics for the New Millennium by the 14th Dalai Lama and I’m hooked. This book is very thought-provoking and shows you a different perspective on this world. The Dalai Lama also proposes that if we add a little extra thought into each day we can live a happier and more fulfilling life. I really enjoy these types of books that focus on changing your way of thinking to be happier and I can’t wait to finish it.

Food
At the moment, I am absolutely loving Linda McCartney’s Shredded Hoisin Duck. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the texture (but I generally feel that way towards vegan “meat” products), however, the flavour is just amazing. To get past the weird texture, I eat this in a wrap with plenty of salad and then it’s delicious.

Health and happiness
It’s Spring now, so the weather is improving and I’ve been able to go in the garden a lot more (without freezing) and get plenty of fresh air. The Winter family likes to grow our own fruits and veggies, and I’ve had much fun starting these bad boys off:

On days it’s been sunny, I’ve enjoyed admiring the beauty of our garden and the wildlife in it.

Our cute kitty was enjoying the outdoors too. She’s a keen explorer and very adventurous and loves watching the birds from high up.

It’s the little things like this that make me feel so grateful and make me really appreciate my life.

I hope that April is filled with love, joy and plenty of wonderful new things to learn and do.
